The Danish Problem Gambling Committee call for applications 2025 (closed)

Description of Call 2025

The Danish Problem Gambling Committee (DPGC) is now opening applications for research projects, including PhD projects. The minimum amount that can be applied for is DKK 500,000.

This spring, DPGC will allocate DKK 6.5 million to research on gambling addiction and problematic gambling behavior. DPGC’s vision is, through funding the highest-quality research projects, to contribute to the creation of a strong, professional Danish research environment and thereby improve knowledge on the epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of gambling addiction.

The DPGC funds research projects within four focus areas:

  • Treatment
  • Prevention with a focus on children and young people
  • Prevention on online gambling platforms
  • Knowledge consolidation

When evaluating applications, particular emphasis will be placed on the feasibility of the project. Therefore, applications must include a thorough description of the practical possibilities for carrying out the project, as well as a detailed work and timeline plan. This includes a plan for potential recruitment, analysis, assessment, and evaluation of data. Emphasis will also be placed on whether the research project has the potential to create value both in Denmark and internationally. Established or potential international collaborations will also be considered a strength.

Guidelines for preparing applications can be found HERE. For PhD and research-year projects, the student must be listed as the applicant. Applications that do not comply with the written guidelines will not be evaluated.

Applications should be submitted as a single PDF file to mawept@clin.au.dk

The application deadline is Monday, 30 June 2025 at 23:00 CET. Applications received after this time will not be considered. Applicants can expect to receive a response by email during September 2025.
